New Chapter

Its been a great week of rest but my vacation is over as of today.  Thats fine because I was able to spend quality time with my wife and son, cook a nice Thanksgiving dinner for my family and our friend Steve and hang out with friends.  Also, I was able to do a lot of home things that was put off for a while (eg: new furniture, car stuff, cleaning the house, etc..)  Ah, if I only had another week of vacation.  Hopefully, if the union at work decides not to strike, then I will have plant shutdown otherwise I'm stuck singing ho ho ho at work with my coworkers.  From the career side, I accepted a new position in a different organization (aftermarket) within Pratt.  This is a technical lead position for all military engine repairs, front to back which means I can be working on any given part of the engine.  Although no one reports to me, I will be managing and coordinating all the work efforts which of course includes outsourcing and overseeing other engineers.  Its a lateral move but a unique position that is a great springboard to future positions such as chief engineer, who needs to be familiar with the entire engine.  I really thank God for this opportunity and I'm looking forward to new people, a different side of the company's business and new opportunities.  As for my career, I'm aiming relatively high but I know God with dictate the pace and where it will go.  At the end of the day, I pray that whatever I do or wherever my career goes, its all for His glory.  In the meantime, our son is getting big.  He's 2 months old and close to doubling his weight and grew 4 inches taller.  He's already cooing and making ah ah sounds which is really cool, as if he's trying to respond to what we are saying.  Here's his latest pic.

This is insane!

Oh my gosh, the difficulties of parenthood has always been hearsay but now the full blunt of its reality has hit us like a freight train.  We finally got back home yesterday and last night was a warzone.  Parenthood makes work, school, house chores look like nothing.  Its def. not for the faint of heart.  You will get frustrated.  You will not have any decent amt of sleep.  You will beg for the mercy of the Lord.  You will be driven to insanity.  Only God and your personal will to live will keep you from jumping out of your car and in front of a Mack truck on the I84.

These are my words of encouragement.  God bless!

Lightspeed

Its official, I got my grade back for my graduate seminar and its satisfactory (S), yes-ah.  All that work for zero credits, but its part of the requirements.  And today, I received my cap and gown, or regalia as they call it.  Very poofy and grand, I suppose for $65 its worth it.  I'm very happy and even proud because I never went to my undergrad graduation so this one means a lot and I will finally experience the whole aura of the graduate experience.  June 2nd is the ceremony and I have 4 spare tickets, anybody wanna come and see the H finally graduate and become a.......Master?     Anyhoo, last two weekends ago we purchased our first laptop, a 17" Toshiba and its awesome with Windows Vista and 2 GB of RAM, bought it at Best Buy and got a really good deal on it.  Jen's old laptop we've been using is 7 years old and its always crapping out on us.  This past Monday we got our new fridge as our old one crapped out on us over night.  Its huge, 22 cu. ft and we got a really good deal at Bernie's.  Tonight we went to Lowes and bought a Bosch dishwasha, rated no.2 on Consumer's Report as its suppose to be super quiet.  I never had a working dishwasha so this will be a big convenience for us, esp. for Jen.  This is what happens guys after you get married, you get excited about researching and buying appliances for your home.  So with school finally done, I can now get back to renovating the home, buy new furniture and appliances and just about everything else for the home so that it will be ready for my little child.  All this and still, Jen and I have only been together for less than 2 years.  Man, indeed my life is going at lightspeed, but its all good.  Praise God!
